The Community Tree Submittal Survey allows Minnesota communities to report trees showing evidence of insects and/or diseases that are located on MnDOT’s right-of-way within the community boundary. High risk trees should be immediately reported by contacting Tina Markeson 612-257-3786, RoadsideVegetationPermits.DOT@state.mn.us. This is a tool to help MnDOT streamline reports from communities into a single database. The comprehensive database will help MnDOT notify the correct District Maintenance contact, prioritize removals, and determine best method for removal. MnDOT is asking Community Foresters and tree professionals to report infested trees into this database to help assist the limited staff with knowledge in the department.

This survey allows communities to submit content in two different ways. If they have pre-existing content - a CSV template is provided so they can submit content in bulk. If they do not have pre-existing content - the survey enables them to provide location and key details about individual trees.

When recording tree location(s) in the field, please follow safety procedures for working along traffic including but not limited to wearing safety vest and hat and accessing the ROW from frontage roads. Tree location(s) can be off-set from device location by dropping a pin on the map on the survey.

This survey and associated questions will be updated yearly to account for changes.

Data submissions will be reviewed monthly. All submitted data will be subject to a process to check accuracy and completeness of all submissions. If data is deemed incomplete or inaccurate and no contact information is provided for follow-up those data points will be omitted.

MnDOT will work to remove trees as quickly as possible but removal may be delayed due to various constraints.
